Whoever said that summer is the only time people travel got their facts wrong. While this may seem like the season when most people go on holidays, travelling happens round the year depending on the schedule of the one who wishes to make the trip.

Whatever season you choose to travel, it is imperative that you plan. Failure to plan could potentially thwart your trip, making it only but a dream. If you do make the trip, you are likely to not enjoy it as much as you could have if you made a plan or, you may find yourself spending all you have with nothing to fall back on when you return from your vacation.

That is why we have put together a travel budget checklist. This is a list of things that are when drafting your travel budget.

8 Items to Include In Your Travel Budget

1. Flight Ticket:

This is one of the items that readily comes to mind- flight tickets. Even before people get their visas, they are already looking into the flight tickets and trying to compare fares by different airlines. Getting the best deal possible is a good call but also remember to make room for an increase especially since you are not planning to buy the ticket immediately.

2. Hotel Fees:

Finding a hotel in the city which you plan to travel to is just as important. These days, people have the option of using Air B n B or hostels which are relatively cheaper than actual hotels in some cases. Do your research, opt for what is best and within your perceived budget. Then include that in your travel budget.

3. Visa fees:

Most countries have visa fees. For some, you need to pay this even before you can schedule a date for an interview. For others, you get to pay on arrival. Ensure that you know what the policy is and how much it is that they charge.

4. Travel insurance:

DO not overlook this in your travel plans. Having travel insurance is very important. While some embassies make this a pre-requisite, some may not. It is however important that you consider this and treat it as important.

5. On the ground transport:

Now that you have arrived at your destination, you will need to move around. If you haven’t been there before, do your research to see if anyone has written about it. If not, just make adequate funds available- from trains to cabs depending on the city which you are in.

6. Food:

You need to feed while you are on vacation. Make a budget that accommodates your taste adventure but also puts your cravings in check.

7. Entertainment:

There will be tourist attractions that are free to access but there will be some you need to pay for. Do your research on the city’s tourist attractions. The fees are usually stated online. Include that in your travel budget.

8. Shopping:

What’s a vacation without some items from the city which you visited? Whether for yourself or for your loved ones, it deserves a spot on your travel budget except you are on a work vacation and do not intend to shop any item at all.

Typically, some of these things may be more and others less. Our recommendation is to make room for any hike when preparing your travel budget.
